De cleaning action of ozone has been known for over a 100 years. However, the use in the agricultural sector in Holland never really got off the ground. Ozone (O3) is a gas that naturally occurs during thunderstorms. The large electronic tension in combination with oxygen causes the ozone. Ozone has the characteristic of being an unstable composition that rapidly dissolves. This characteristic makes ozone attaches itself to the cells of micro-organisms, and incinerate these micro-organisms so that only the known O2 and H2O remain. This reaction makes harmful micro-organisms such as fungi, bacteria and viruses disappear and creates a biological product that is thoroughly cleaned.
There are several applications where ozone can be used. Thus, ozone can be brought into cells, whereby the air, the product and product container are organically cleaned. Furthermore, ozone is applied in water treatment. Process water and piping can be cleaned of micro-organisms so that contamination by water is prevented. Water with ozone can also be used as a cleaning agent for various applications.
